I started to take pictures of internal objects on the line. I wanted to put together a photo album showing an interior picture and a space where people can write what they think it is. Then they can flip up the page and see what it really is.
…But after going along the line, I realized the only thing that was consantly on the line always was myself. So I decided to look at the line as representing my college life or experience. it is a place where I can now make my own decisions whether they help me or hurt me. One thing that I do is eat a lot of junk food. I am consantly eating unhealthy foods. Its extra bad for me because I have kidney stones so I shouldn’t eat a lot of salt. I also have a disease called hyposytraturia which makes me get kidney stones easier than normal. So I want to take pictures of me laying on the line eating all kinds of junk food. I want to present these photos on a wall. I also want to have a table with the board game: operation, filled with candy nerds. I want to put it on a pile of rocks or dirt from the line. It will represent me on the line with my unhealthy food habit.
My first idea was that I wanted to create a game for my word; internal. I wanted to find about 15 items and look at the interior. I would either photograph, draw or paint the inside and present it. People would then have to guess what the object is, just by seeing the inside. I want people to think and wonder about it. Maybe I will provide a space where they can write down what they think it is.
My other idea was to make some sort of journal of my internal feelings on the line. I would go to different spots and do different things and write down my internal feeling about it. One spot could cause nastalgia or another could be anxiety. I would also maybe write the phsical feelings I get. The water in the creek could cause coldness.
For my word, I explored a lot of things internally that most people wouldn’t think of. I looked on the inside of things that we see/use everyday but don’t think about.
I went inside a building that is on the line.
Inside this one building, I found many internal explorations. I found these weird pipes and took a picture inside of them. Their interior was dirty but interesting.
I looked a vent that we see all the time and I decided to explore and try to see the inside.
It looked like there was some sort of necklace in there.
Next I went to a vending machine and tried to see how I can stretch my concept of internals. I looked inside a vending machine, then looked inside a bag of gummy worms, inside the gummy worm and then the gummy worm inside my mouth. It is a strange concept but is crazy how much “internal” can show up in a simple action like getting a bag of candy.
I found a hole in the ceiling and took a picture of the inside.
I next took a pencil and cut it in half to see the interior of it. I wanted to get a clear picture that shows the detailed interior.
I found a wooden wall and cut a small chunk out to see the interior.
I stood outside while Jimmy opened the garage door to create a scene of the external going into the internal.
I am really interested in the creek around here. For my territory project, I chose the creek and so today I explored the creek section of the line. I wanted to view it in a different way so I put my face under the water to open my eyes and see what is under the water. I figured that since it is underwater, people don’t notice it, but its still on the line.
I also chose a different way to look at the creek by climbing up a tree and looking down at it.
Me and my buddy Jim decided to pile up rocks and see how it changes and interacts with the creek. They changed the design and movement of the water. The rocks created a little waterfall that was not there before.
Me and my friend Jim also decided to collect everything in the creek that wasn’t natural or that didn’t belong. We found cans, wrappers, a plank of wood ect.
I also searched the creek and tried to find the coolest and most interesting artifact there. I found a rock that was covered in shell fossils.
Finally me and Jim just sat and listened to the environment. We heard loud water splashing and rippling and cars driving by in the distance. Suprisingly those were the only two noises we heard. It was very peacefull and relaxing.
I chose a creek under a bridge for my territory. So the range is inside the creek. The bounderies are the hills on both sides of the creek.
